I know , I know but I just can’t help myself! Snape Maltings is the perfect setting for this Henry Moore sculpture, well worth a visit ( nice cafe & antique shop too). It’s the last one for a while I promise!
Do you remember playing helicopters with the winged seeds of Sycamore trees when you were a kid? You had to throw them up in the air & the one that landed last won.It gave us hours of fun!
I’d only even seen then in different tones of brown until the kids found these, aren’t they beautiful ? Ahh the joys of summer!

One of the best things about the holidays is not having to get dressed . Even better then to start baking in pyjamas !
These chocolate and oat cookies are easy & tasty, this easily makes about 30 cookies.
270 g brown sugar
225 g butter or marg
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 egg
230 g of oats
225 g of white flour
1 teaspoon of baking powder
1/4 teaspoon of salt
2 large bars of chocolate ( I use Dairy Milk) chopped into their squares .
Heat the oven to gas mark 6 & lightly grease baking trays. Mix sugar & marg, stir in vanilla & egg. Gradually fold in oats, flour, baking powder & salt. Finally mix in the chocolate bits. The dough should be quite ‘wet’. using a spoon drop a ‘cookie’ sized bit of mixture on the tray making sure they are all spaced well.
Bake for about 10 mins ( depending on your oven) until slightly golden.Leave to cook , them enjoy !

Another car boot find ! I love the strap line …Lexicon, the wonder game…can’t wait to try it. The font is fabulous as well ( I know I put the ‘W’ upside down…needs must !).
The vintage one is available on amazon, as is the new version ( which is cheaper but the packaging isn’t as elegant ).

Docklands Sailing and Watersports Club (DSWC) do fantastic sailing course for kids ( 8 yrs & older). It’s suitably urban with the old docker’s cranes in the back ground, I love the story of how they lowered their cranes in respect when Winston Churchill’s funeral barge sailed past, not because they were tories, but because of his leadership during the war.
Daisy loved the sailing and I feel quite inspired, might sign up for lessons myself !

Granna Anna was on great form last week, and up to her usual tricks ! Off on our usual walk she decided we should go a different route ( kids in crocs, me in baseball boots & Granna in proper walking boots)….down along the river bank, balancing on tree trunks & rocks to criss cross the river…through muddy patches, where Finn emerged without his crocs & had them fished out by Granna’s umbrella/walking stick ! We then had to scramble up a steep bank to climb over the wire fence to get back on the path!
At bedtime when we talked through the day I was laughing with Finn saying how crazy Granna was, ‘oh no’ replied Finn ‘she’s the best’ ,bless !!

Every year we go with my Mum to the Downs Bank , a National Trust area in North Staffordshire. It’s like stepping into a different world, really magical. We always bring a picnic and pond dipping equipment for the kids.I’ve got photos of them in the same place going back about 6 years now, it’s a very special place for us.

We went to see Granna Anna and Finn got his first ‘inheritance’..Grandad Jerry’s old bow ties!
So cute !
